HISTORY OVERVIEW:
Do not be confused because there is a settlement or village with the same name in the interior of Kedah (not far from the dam of Pedu). However, not many know that the Kampung Kota Aur in this Province of North Seberang Prai;where there is a temple of Hindu / Buddhist medium in size with red stone in this Kota Aur village [of the same type of the stone] used to build temples available in the well-known Bujang Basin, Kedah. This old temple in Kampung Kota Aur was dug by the Museums Department in the year 2005  and have been filled again after all the important data recorded. This temple site is located in the area of ​​traditional house own by Hajjah Meryam (see map showing location of this house) who was one of the participants  of 'Homestay Kota Aur' progrmme. Some examples of this red rock is still there and can be seen in the vicinity of the site.

Believed it or not, the temple was built around 1,500 years ago. If we visit the Archaeological Museum in Valley of Bujang, Merbok, we can see the information  of the Kampung Kota Aur is part of the metropolis of the earliest civilizations in Malaysia located in the river basin of Merbok / River's with a lot of Hindu / Buddhist temples lies various in sizes having  the state of the art infrastructural facilities at the time. Also, examples of stone pillars of that era of the house and the Hindu / Buddhist temple in Kampung Kota Aur still can be seen in the museum.

Many sources also wrote that the origin of the village is connected with the Palace of King Bersiung made of bamboo or also called aur in Bahasa Melayu. One cannot be denied that the sandy soil and river drainage in this village is suitable for plants i.e. bamboo or aur grow and flourish. The story of the King is reinforced by the Kota or  palace made of bamboo (or many other names is called the city of bamboo) to the throne of King Bersiung located in Kampung Kota Aur, Northern Province Wellesley, Penang, which is part of the Bujang Valley settlements which are so advanced during their era.
